JCC signs MoU with Kabul Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI)
In September 2016, the first train from China carrying USD 4 million of commercial goods arrived in Hairatan, northern Afghanistan. For Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, the new rail link marks a small step toward a dream of turning landlocked Afghanistan into a transit hub of Asia. In Switzerland, one hears little about the economic opportunities of Afghanistan as an important link in the New Silk Road and too much about political and security issues. Hence, Afghanistan was showcased at JCC's New Silk Road Forum with a presentation by one of Afghanistan’s top business men, Mr. Fahim Hashimy, CEO of the Hashimy Group, a conglomerate with interests in fuel logistics, manufacturing, media, airlines, trading and construction.
JCC's New Silk Road Forum on October 12, 2016 culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between JCC and the Kabul Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). Fahim Hashimy, Chairman, International Affairs, KCCI and Founder and Chairman, Hashimy Group signed on behalf of KCCI. Marcel Pawlicek, President, JCC and CEO, Burckhardt Compression signed for JCC. A second MoU between JCC and International Chamber of Commerce Afghanistan (ICC AFG) was also concluded. Fahim Hashimy, a founding member of ICC AG, is now spearheading this new cooperation with JCC on behalf of Afghanistan.
