Armenia as a business destination for Swiss companies...

JCC organized a Switzerland-Armenia Business Roundtable at the Zunfthaus zur Schmiden in Zurich on May 7, 2014. Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Garegin Melkonyan provided an in-depth examination of the Armenian economy. Ambassador Livia Leu, State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, made a presentation on bilateral economic and political relations between Switzerland and Armenia. The government of Armenia is implementing a policy of economic advancement. As part of this program it has prioritized certain growth sectors – light manufacturing, pharmaceutical/biotechnology, precision engineering, jewelry/diamond cutting/watchmaking, wine and brandy manufacturing – offering favourable business conditions for companies investing in these sectors. Armenia offers the advantage of a highly-skilled population.  It is also preparing to join the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus which will provide companies access without customs tariffs to a market of 200 million consumers.
