Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann's Mission to Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan - April 10 to 13, 2013

Joint Chamber of Commerce Switzerland - Russia/CIS (JCC) Joins Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann's Mission to Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between JCC and Chamber of Commerce of Kazakhstan Signed on April 11, 2013

The Joint Chamber of Commerce Switzerland - Russia/CIS (JCC), represented by Dorit Sallis, Managing Director, was in the business delegation that joined Federal Councillor Schneider-Ammann's mission to Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan from April 10 to 13, 2013. The aim of the mission was to strengthen economic relations with these increasingly important members of Switzerland's constituency in the Bretton Woods institutions.

Kazakhstan

For JCC this was an opportunity to establish formal ties with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan through the signing of an MoU on April 11, 2013 in Astana in the presence of Federal Councillor Schneider-Ammann and dignitaries from the Kazakh side. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan will now operate as JCC's dedicated partner in Kazakhstan for the promotion and support of Swiss business in the country and vice versa.

Azerbaijan

The mission to Azerbaijan (April 12 and 13, 2013) was an important step in welcoming Azerbaijan (and the entire Caucasus Region) into the group of countries that JCC represents. Dorit Sallis met representatives of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Economic Development; Azerprom, the official business promotion agency and Swiss companies operating in the country. Henceforth, JCC will promote Swiss business in Azerbaijan in the oil and especially non-oil sectors, in line with the country's policy of economic diversification.

As a next step in its mission to promote bilateral business between Switzerland and Central Asia & the Caucasus, JCC is organizing a Eurasia Forum on October 29, 2013 (14:00 to 19:00) in Zurich with a focus on Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan as business destinations for Swiss companies. The program will be forthcoming in the next weeks.
