JCC partners with PASHA Bank on Azerbaijan-Switzerland Conference...

In the Azerbaijani government's strategy "Azerbaijan 2020 - Vision of the Future", one of the key priorities is to diversify the country's economy into the non-oil sectors. This was the focus of the Azerbaijan-Switzerland Business Conference organized by the Joint Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-CIS/Georgia (JCC) in partnership with PASHA Bank on November 11 in Zurich and on November 13, 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland. The conference in Zurich was opened by HE Ambassador Akram Zeynalli and in Geneva by Farhad Anisa-Babayev, Councillor, Embassy of Azerbaijan in Switzerland. Dorit Sallis, Managing Director, JCC moderated both conferences.

After laying out the details of this strategy, Natig Madatov, Advisor to the President, Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) highlighted priority sectors for the Azeri government and discussed the country's potential as a regional hub. Farid Ahundov, CEO, PASHA Bank and Taleh Kazimov, CIO, PASHA Bank gave an overview of the country's financial services industry and banking instruments available for foreign companies in Azerbaiijan. In keeping with its private-sector focus, the experiences of three Swiss companies in Azerbaijan - Holcim, Buhler AG and ABB - were showcased by their regional representatives Horia Adrian, Holcim, Sharif Nezam-Mafi, Bühler and Igor Almazov, ABB. The event culminated with an examination of legal and regulatory requirements for foreign companies in the country presented by Afag Abdulayeva, Omni Law Firm Azerbaijan.
