JCC Roundtable on the Swiss Pavilion at EXPO 2017 Astana
On November 22, 2012, Astana was chosen by the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) as the venue to host Expo 2017, which will focus on "Future Energy". The theme will concentrate on the future of energy, and innovative, but practical energy solutions, and their global impact. Expo 2017 will be the first time that a major international exhibition of this kind is coming to a country of the former Soviet Union. Around 2-3 million people are expected to visit the international pavilions from June to September 2017. 25 hectares has been made available for the different pavilions and at least 70 countries have confirmed their participation.
Switzerland will have a pavilion at EXPO 2017, which is intended to showcase the country's achievements in the area of clean tech and innovative environmental solutions. Swiss companies as the embodiment of the country’s economic success and innovative capacity are invited to participate in the pavilion. JCC held a roundtable on "Opportunities for Swiss Companies to Join the Swiss Pavilion at EXPO 2017 Astana" on March 16, 2016, at Burckhardt Compression, Winterthur.
The event's purpose was to provide detailed information on the Swiss Pavilion and different kinds of involvement in the pavilion available to Swiss companies. Ambassador Mauro Reina, Embassy of Switzerland in Kazakhstan and Councillor Maxat Suleimenov, Embassy of Kazakhstan in Switzerland opened the event. Commissioner General of the Swiss Pavilion EXPO 2017 presented the concept and structure of the Swiss Pavilion while Gilles Léraillé, Executive Vice President, SICPA SA, examined the benefits of a presence in the pavilion for his company. Participants addressed questions to speakers and discussed various aspects of Swiss participation at EXPO 2017 during the networking reception.
